This week, students and educators around the world participate in International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration.
Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ children’s book, The Dot, the annual event encourages students to embrace their artistic potential with a simple challenge: "Make a mark and see where it takes you." Since its inception in 2011, this movement has grown into a phenomenon, uniting more than 36 million participants worldwide.
Students at Bridgeport Elementary School designed their own dot and have it displayed in the hallway for all to see. Students used a variety of designs, colors, and shapes to make their dot unique to them. At the end, students saw the final products of all the dots together, displaying how one dot becomes a beautiful masterpiece when we combine and collaborate as one team.
In addition to creating their own dots, students participated in other “dot-themed” art projects throughout the day to celebrate the occasion.
Congratulations to our talented student artists and dedicated art teachers for bringing so much color and energy to our district. We can't wait to see where your mark takes you this year!
