Third grade did a light experiment in science! Students used a flashlight to test if the light would go through different materials. Clear plastic wrap, wax paper and aluminum foil. 🔦 💡

Today our 5th graders rolled up their sleeves and became scientists! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 We dissected cow eyeballs to learn all about how vision works—cornea, iris, lens, optic nerve and all! Students asked thoughtful questions, made careful observations, and handled the lab like pros. A little “eww,” a lot of curiosity, and tons of learning happened today. 🧠🔍 Hands-on science days are the best days! 🧪✨ Shoutout to 4H for making this happen!

‼️Today 5th grade students participated in a tax simulation during the time of the American Revolution. You could say things got a little heated. Each student had an important roll to play: 👑the king, 💰a tax collector, 👱‍♂️or a colonist. As the king issues new taxes, the collectors were off to collect their money! By the end, the colonists were rightfully frustrated-especially when they heard that the king and his team were splitting up the loot! ⭐️Check in with your student tonight and ask….”Are you ready to rebel?”

Dear Franklin County community,

We are thrilled to bring this amazing opportunity to all of our families who utilize our bus transportation services. With this app, you’ll be able to track your child’s bus in real time, receive important notifications, and communicate directly with our transportation team. Keep an eye out for an invitation from us soon if you haven't already received your invite!

We also want to share some early feedback from one of our families. This is proof that this tool is already making a difference! A huge shoutout to Sherry Boarman and Brad McKinney for their dedication and hard work in bringing this project to life.

FCS Families, our transportation team has some very exciting news! 🚍

Our transportation team has begun rolling out the Stopfinder app starting with Peaks Mill Elementary. Next up: all east side schools will be added, followed by west side schools.

This app will let you track your child’s bus location for accurate pickup and drop-off times as well as any alerts that may arise. Please keep an eye on your email for your official invite to connect your child’s bus!

Today is Giving Tuesday! Each year, Franklin County Schools provides support to between 150–200 students who qualify for assistance under the McKinney-Vento Act.

Last month, during Student Homeless Awareness Month, we highlighted our partnership with the Frankfort Cares Coalition, which helps ensure our unhoused students receive the resources and care they need.

If you’re able, we invite you to join us in this mission. Your donation directly supports students in our community:
